Rachel’s magpie eye for collecting and salvaging the unusual and bizarre, coupled with a strong ethic for recycling, all play a part in the unique art she creates. Each piece with a new story to tell. Rachel Grevatte’s art is inspired by naive folk art, curios and other object d’arts as well as her young son’s drawings.
She grew up in Leicestershire and has moved around the county, always with a passion for collecting and creating. Rachel likes to rework the things that she finds into objects to be treasured
Rachel studied art and teaching at Bretton Hall College, in the grounds of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. She leads art at a Leicestershire primary school and works to broaden art and creative practice across the whole School community. Now, in her Vale of Belvoir studio, Rachel works in mixed media and is led by the materials she finds, always trying new things and working in different ways.
