Paula Chapman

Paula Chapman paints on silk using rich, colourfast dyes and gutta or wax outlines. She began painting after early retirement from teaching following an accident. She studied textile art with Sheila Baker, and began showing her pictures in local galleries and exhibitions. She is now a teaching member of the international Guild of Silk Painters, and gives workshops in her garden studio.
She is inspired by nature, using textile effects to show the character of her flowers. She also paints a popular series of scenes from her childhood in Cambridgeshire.
