Liz studied Graphic Design and then Fine Art for seven years. Her career in Arts education spanned over 85 educational establishments in a 30-year career. Liz has continued as a practising artist for over 40 years, she works with combining photography, drawing, painting and digital design to create beautiful contemporary images.
Liz often finds her initial visual stimulus in natural form; in landscape and in her own surrounding environment.
The process of making starts with a photograph which she proceeds to visually deconstruct before rebuilding the image using a variety of traditional methods, old and new technologies. The resulting gicleé prints emerge through the digital collaging of ink and charcoal drawing, watercolour painting and fragments of photographs. Many gicleé prints are further embellished by hand.
The concept tends to lead the making. The process of making or building her artwork may be initiated from the sense of place from where the original photograph was taken. Thoughts and ideas then overlay and engage with the process of making. The final piece is never pre-planned.
Liz’s photographs are sold through Getty Images and EyeEm.com.
Liz produces limited and open edition, gicleé prints and photo greetings cards. These may be purchased through exhibition or studio.
